Business Time, Touchin' Monkeys, and Gangsta Kiwis

New Zealand's most popular novelty folk duo sings about gettin' it on:

And another one about the pressing social issues of our time:

And another from the "Hip-Hop-opotamus" and the "Ryhmenocerous":

If you haven't seen Flight of The Conchords yet, RUN immediately to your local video store, or your NetFlix queue, and pick up the first season of their show. I know this statement will probably prompt a couple of fist-fights with some of my friends, but I think these guys are even funnier than Tenacious D... and  for me, that's sayin' something. Seriously-- their material is some of the smartest, most subtle, unassuming, effortlessly hilarious stuff I've ever seen. I watched about 15 minutes of them on stage and was an instant fan-boy.

Oh yeah -- cameos by Todd Barry and Dimitri Martin in the series too. I'm completely hooked.

There are 3 Comments for Business Time, Touchin' Monkeys, and Gangsta Kiwis

I keep seeing previews but I've never watched. If they're funnier than the D I need to see it to believe it.
Now, FOC don't have the vocal or instrumental chops that The D has, and they're not as dynamic as JB and KG, but for some reason, their sensibility just resonates a little more with me. I dunno why, but I've always been a sucker for really naive, self-effacing humor like that. Don't get me wrong, Jack Black belting out lines like "we don't mind sucking on toes" cracks me up every time. And I can't tell you how often I unintentionally re-created the "inward singing" scene back when I was playing in a band, "Fuck you! You fucking dick! Always nay-saying... everything I create! You piece of shit!". So I loves me some JB and KG. I just identify a little more with the two dorky Kiwis. And how can you not love a song about touching monkeys? It's impossible. :)
I guess I need to watch some back episodes on demand and dvr the rest. I'm never home when anything good is on so I'm always missing shows like this. Thank you for the intro though. I'm gonna go do a program search right now.
